This is a superb antique L&JG Stickley slatted Morris chair from the early 1900’s Mission and Arts & Crafts period in very good condition.
This is a very rare Morris chair with an excellent design and construction.
There is excellent quarter sawn oak all over with an original finish.
There are double through tenons on the arms which are corbelled and pinned.
The legs display the quadrilinear construction typical of L&JG Stickley.
There are five slats under each wide, paddle arm and a great original adjustable back rest bar.
The chair is very large and bulky and has through tenon construction on the seat rails and stretchers at the bottom.
It is also double pinned on the front and back.
The chair is signed with a decal under one arm as pictured.
The back cushion and spring seat have been professionally recovered with high quality, hand rubbed leather with cotton fill.
This is a rare and desirable chair and is highly collectible.
