Description:
This is a rare antique
Persian Serapi Oriental rug from the 1850's in fair condition. The rug
has 100% wool, hand knotted pile that is largely present with
significant lower areas. The rug has a highly desirable ivory field with
excellent complimentary colors. The sides and ends are mostly complete
and there is lots of pile all over, making it easy to restore. There is
one large hole that is mostly patched. Problem areas are pictured. The
border is particularly attractive. It is rare to find ivory field Serapis and this one could be used as is or could make for an superb
restoration project.
