Description:
This is a superb and rare set of antique
Roycroft andirons from the early 1900s Mission and Arts & Crafts period
in very good condition. The set is made of wrought iron and display
fantastic design and craftsmanship. They are extremely thick and heavy
and have no missing pieces or damage. The original gold paint is present
and has typical wear from use. There is a twisted metal chain linking
the two in a fashion that echoes the twisted cage at the top of the
andirons. There are decorative rivets along the outside edge and
attractive curls at the ends. This is a unique and supremely decorative
set in unusually good condition. Though they are not signed, they appear
in the Roycroft catalogues.
