This is a good antique early Gustav
Stickley Morris chair from the early 1900s Mission and Arts & Crafts
period in very good condition. The piece has excellent quarter sawn oak
with an original finish that is thin at the arms. It has unusual form
with paddle shaped arms that feature pinned, exposed through tenons at
the front and back. The arms are also supported by pinned corbels at the
front. The leather seat sits on a rope foundation and is very
comfortable and usable. The Morris chair is a rare form and dates from
1905 and is signed under the arm with a red decal as pictured.
