Description:
This is a superb antique quarter sawn oak
large sideboard from the early 1900s in very good condition. The piece
is made of superb quarter sawn oak with nearly every surface veneered or
solid quarter oak. The finish appears to have been cleaned in the past.
It has great form with an unusually large, original beveled glass mirror
at the top. There are excellent curved columns at the sides that feature
carved faces and a leaf design. There are additional applied carvings
all over. The piece has large paw feet and the original brass hardware
is present with only one missing lock face. There is a wine holder in
the center at the bottom and lots of storage in drawers and cabinets.
The drawers are dovetailed and the piece is extremely heavy and well
made. The piece comes with a copy of a letter written by the previous
owner detailing the provenance of the sideboard that was first purchased
in 1909. This is a very impressive and unique piece.
