Description:
This is a superb and rare antique Roycroft
single door bookcase from the early 1900s Mission and Arts & Crafts
period in excellent condition. The piece is made of superb quarter sawn
oak with a fantastic original finish with great reddish-brown color. The
bookcase has rare and desirable form with an overhanging top with a
beveled edge. The door has no sagging and features individually paned
glass that is leaded and has no damage. There are very attractive
pilasters at the front and sides that give the piece a unique
architectural look. It is extremely thick and heavy with a chamfered
back made of full thickness quarter sawn oak boards the three fixed
shelves are also made of quarter sawn oak. The original copper pull is
present and works well. The piece is marked with a carved orb at the
bottom. This is a rare and exceptional bookcase in unusually good
condition.
