Description:
This is a superb antique hand decorated
blanket chest from the 1840s to 1860s in very good condition. The piece
is made of pine and has an interior compartment as pictured. There are
original feet with no damage and paneled sides. The hardware is original
though the hinges have been reset due to damage (see pictures). The back
is chamfered the the piece has a fantastic hand painted finish. The
painting has feather graining and card and putty decorations with black
on salmon colors. The chest comes with early 1900's ephemera including a
birth certificate, diploma, pictures, and newspapers. This is a very
striking and highly decorative collectible piece.
