Description:
This is a superb antique Gustav Stickley early large armchair from the
early 1900's Mission and Arts & Crafts period in excellent condition.
The chair has its original finish with fantastic quarter sawn oak. It is
extremely thick and bulky as are the early pieces. It has an nice arched
back and very wide arms. The arms are pinned, through tenon, and
corbelled. The chair is double pinned on the bottom. There is a rope
seat support and suede covered cushions. There are 2 small nicks on the
back as pictured. The chair is unmarked but appears as Model #2590 in
"The Early Work of Gustav Stickley" catalogue. There may be a shadow of
a signature under one arm. This is an excellent decorative piece and is
highly collectible.
