Description:
This is a great antique
L&JG Stickley even arm settle from the early 1900's in very good
condition. The piece is not signed but appears as mod #232 in the
Stickley catalogue pictured. The settle has fantastic quarter sawn oak
throughout and an original finish in excellent condition with great
color. Construction is excellent with pins all over on the top, bottom,
sides, and back. The posts have the L&JG Stickley construction as well
(see picture). The sides have very wide slats and the back slightly
narrower (but still wider than most). The original spring seat is
present and is currently covered with a good, leather-like material in
excellent condition. The cushion looks nice as is, or it can be
recovered with leather if you choose. There is a minor crack on one back
post that is stable and does not affect the soundness of the settle.
This is a very nice piece that is unusually low.
