Description:
This is an unusual antique George C. Flint
bow arm rocker from the early 1900's Mission and Arts & Crafts period in
very good condition. It is made of quarter sawn oak with an excellent
original finish. The chair has a very unique form with a wing back,
bowed arms, and front posts that bow outwards. There are through tenons
on the arms and long corbels underneath. It is double pinned at the
front and back. The winged back and back and seat cushions have been
recovered with high quality, had rubbed leather with cotton fill. The
chair is signed with a "Geo. C. Flint Co." tag under the seat. We sold
similar rocker several years ago that was signed by L&JG Stickley. It is
possible that L&JG Stickley made this rocker for distribution by George
Flint, but we cannot be sure. The piece is very heavy and bulky and is
quite impressive and collectible.
